Membership, Elections, and Awards Committee
The Membership, Elections, and Awards Committee is responsible for the recruitment of new members and retention of current members for Complex and Chronic Conditions formerly Division of Physical Health and Multiple Disabilities. The committee seeks to identify and address the various needs of our members in serving our diverse target population. Our members are the division’s very life blood and we seek to serve them in whatever ways we can through the provision of professional knowledge and support as they serve our students.
The duties of the Membership, Elections, and Awards Committee shall be:
- To maintain a current record of members and to provide all officers and
committee chairs with such a list; - To maintain an active program for the recruitment and retention of members to include:
- Sending correspondence to welcome new members,
- Sending correspondence to lapsed members to encourage them to rejoin,
- Maintaining ongoing contact with members to encourage retention of membership;
- To develop and implement membership strategies;
- To support Council headquarters in its follow-up of membership renewals;
- To keep a written record of the activities conducted to maintain and increase membership.
- To provide a report at the Executive Board meetings regarding activities and current membership numbers and to provide the current list of members to the president or communications coordinator when needed for communication with division members.
- To solicit recommendations for nominations from the entire membership;
- To make an attempt to nominate at least two candidates for vice-president and to provide a slate of nominees to the Executive Board by October 31 of each year;
- To send ballots to the membership by December 1; Ballots will be sent electronically via email or other electronic means which are consistent with CEC policies;
- To determine winners and notify the Executive Board;
- To announce the results to the membership as soon as possible after the vote;
- To review and update criteria for CCC-DPHMD awards;
- To receive and review applications for CCC-DPHMD awards;
- To coordinate input and approval from the Executive Board on award nominees; and
- To complete all award-related tasks for presentation of awards (e.g., notifying award recipients; coordinating with treasurer for purchasing awards; creating award-related presentations; designating a presenter for award presentations that occur at convention).
The Membership, Elections, and Awards Committee is looking for division members who are interested in serving on this committee who can assist in the committee work by helping to establish plans for new member recruitment as well as member engagement and retention.
